10 Great Places to Have Thanksgiving Dinner Out

Frosty temperatures this week remind us that Thanksgiving is nigh, and if cooking is not your delight, or if you would just appreciate a hand this year, a range of restaurants around Seattle are preparing Thanksgiving feasts for dine in and take out. Prix-fixe menus, buffets and smoked turkeys to go give us plenty to be thankful for this year, but make your reservations, like, now—a number of spots were cut from this list because they’re already full!

DINE IN

1. Capitol Hill: Plum Bistro (vegan)
Thursday, November 27 from 2 to 7 p.m.

A holiday commonly associated with a bird not only hasn’t stopped the vegan Plum Bistro, but has apparently egged it on, where there are three menus to choose from on Turkey Day: the Traditional, the Unique Individual and the New American Gluten Free. All menus include four courses and completely vegan dishes, including its signature Mac and Yease (on the Traditional and New American Gluten Free menus, pictured bottom right above) and Cauliflower & Lentil Wellington (on the Unique Individual). 2. Downtown: Ruth’s Chris Steak House
Thursday, November 27 from noon to 10 p.m.

Ruth’s Chris is preparing the quintessential Thanksgiving feast with all the fixings: kick off with a choice of salad or gumbo, move on to turkey and a selected side, and polish off pumpkin cheesecake and ice cream for dessert. Find the complete menu here.

3. First Hill: Hunt Club at Sorrento Hotel Seattle
Thursday, November 27 from noon to 8 p.m.

The Hunt Club brings new meaning to the term “stuffed” this year with a massive Thanksgiving spread with something for everyone. For those who favor traditional fare, the carving station has you covered with an olive oil poached turkey and gravy, and sides of mashed and roasted potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, and braised turkey legs. Other palates, however, will find a smoked 28-day prime rib, poached prawns, snow crab legs, cedar plank salmon and an oyster shucking station among the offerings. As for dessert? Expect crème brulée, pecan pie and macaroons.

4. Kirkland: Trellis Restaurant in Heathman Hotel
Thursday, November 27 from noon to 8 p.m.

It hardly gets more local than Trellis, where executive chef Brian Scheehser notes that everything on his 18-acre farm in Woodinville “was planted with the seasonal Trellis menu in mind.” The restaurant is serving up myriad farm-to-fork options on its three-course menu: Choose between two soups (winter squash or mushroom soup) and four salads for your starter, then select (if you must) one of eight different main dishes (choices include a Painted Hills filet mignon, Bluebird Farms organic farro, a Carleton Farm pork chop and of course free-range roast turkey). 5. Madison Valley: Cafe Flora (vegetarian)
Thursday, November 27 from 1 to 7:30 p.m.

Turkey who? You won’t miss a thing when you’re cozied into one of Seattle’s most beloved vegetarian haunts for its delightful four-course feast. Main course options include pumpkin risotto cakes or creamy wild mushroom and root vegetable ragu in puff pastry with a bordelaise sauce, and be sure to save room for dessert, where there are three pumpkin and apple delicacies to choose among. 6. Snoqualmie: The Dining Room at Salish Lodge
Thursday, November 27 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Kids get their own menu at this four-course Thanksgiving feast at the Salish Lodge atop the Snoqualmie Falls and River. Come early to pamper yourself at the spa, then enjoy sweeping views as you indulge in your choice of fare: Main course options for vegetarians include a braised globe artichoke or mushroom risotto; for kids, options abound such as roasted white meat turkey, chicken fingers, a grilled cheese or a burger. 7. South King County: Copperleaf Restaurant at Cedarbrook Lodge
Thursday, November 27 from noon to 8 p.m.

Clear your mind and easily recall all you’re thankful for while dining among 18 acres of restored wetlands at Copperleaf Restaurant in South King County. In this prix-fixe, three-course spread, executive chef Mark Bodinet is serving up an impressive array of options: if you don’t fancy turkey, indulge in caramelized scallops, bacon-wrapped pork or Painted Hills short ribs for your main dish, and add optional Northwest wine pairings with each course for an additional $25 per person. 8. Ballard: India Bistro (Non-traditional)
Thursday, November 27 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Maybe you’ve never liked turkey or are just not in the mood for it this year. Whatever your reason for passing on the bird, India Bistro is here with its special Indian buffet offered annually on Thanksgiving. The exact offerings will be the chef’s choice, but look forward to butter chicken and tandoori chicken for sure, and a range of other meat and vegetarian curries and salads. If your favorite is missing, the regular menu will also be available for ordering.

9. Georgetown: Jack’s BBQ
Pick up: Wednesday, November 26 from 5 to 9 p.m.

You’ve roasted your turkey, you’ve deep-fried it… now it’s time to really go with the campfire spirit and smoke it. Let Jack’s BBQ do the work for you with one of its 12-pound free-range, co-op-raised turkeys smoked Central Texas-style: low and slow over mesquite and hickory hard woods. 10. Pioneer Square: London Plane
Pick up: Wednesday, November 26 from 2 to 7 p.m.

As if his all-the-rage cuisine weren’t enough, when Matt Dillon does Thanksgiving, he doesn’t stop with the food. The London Plane (Pioneer Square) and Bar Ferd’nand (Capitol Hill) will be closed on Turkey Day but are teaming up to offer a full gourmet Thanksgiving experience to enjoy in your own dining room, complete with wine to match and even floral centerpieces. Either bring home the whole meal (turkey, sides and dessert) or any side or dessert á la carte, such as cranberry & beet chutney, root vegetable gratin, Tuscan chicken liver pate with pickled sultanas, or cardamom cake.
